better get your waves down there before the fences and signs go up-----the adubon/defendersof wildlife lawsuit is still in effect, which means come late spring till early fall most of the hatteras island beaches will be off limits ... the locals get screwed again this summer......surfers and fishermen or even bathers will not access many beaches, either by 4x4 or on foot .....last summer the toursit ecomony on which many reley was down over 30%
(sorry for the misspells, i'm somewhat pissed off)

just checked the natioal park site----the first total beach closures have occured---it has begun....
