well, other than the fact thats there's no surf on the outer banks. I hope you are aware of the beach access issues, you will do little or no offroad searching for surf, due to restrections based on the ongoing lawsuit with the aubudon society.

so you mean there are no surfing beaches like we have here in dirty jerz?
what about right outside my hotel in the morning before the guards get on....or do they even have lifeguards? i dunno....we are gonna do some fishing some hang gliding and lots of relaxing....ill have plenty of time to scope it out for a possible surf trip next year....

lifeguards only in the nags head/kitty hawk area---the rest of the outer banks is free area, you takes your chances---five drownings so far this year. once you cross the oregon inlet bridge, your on your own. except of course those closed areas......where you can get a huge fine by going into

we stayed in kill devil....although it was flat the beach seemed like it was on a good angle....there was a tiny N swell on the first day but after that it was flat....i bet that place would light up on a decent sized swell...

I ran a surf camp down in Nags Head and the waves were hit or miss...it all depends on the sand bars. You can check Old Oregon Inlet Rd. usually that can break pretty nice, but my best advise is to cruise south and get to Rodanthe, Buxton, or even better the Lighthouse and surf S-Turns.
