Who are the Best Grom's In NJ?

And If a magazine or a web Site was going to do a feature on the Best Grom's in NJ.

What 6 groms would you choose?

And what age do you think a grom is? ( over 17 is not a grom)

Let's Hear it!

Depending on what age bracket your calling "Grommies", but Pat Schmidt, Ryan Santiago, Zach Greaser, Luke Kelly Jake Kreise and Andrew Rooney; in that order

can we get an agreeable grom age? I would say anybody under 13. When I think of a grom I think of that age where u dont really have the muscle 2 throw buckets, even if you rip.

Grom should be 17 and under.

I like the list you are replying with.
1. Pat
2. Ion Bloch
3.PJ Raia
4.Tommy Iken
5.Chris Kelly
6.Andrew Rooney

So if you saw a Grom Write up and it had surfers over age of 17 saying they are the best grom'w in NJ, Would you be stoked on it? (nope sounds like bro-job article)

Now lets say the article did not mention the true best Grom in NJ, what you think? (it would be lame)

Do you think we should spot light the best grom in NJ? (yes to get their name's out)

Any other suggestion's, any idea's will help. I am trying to get Surfline to do a feature on the best grom in NJ.

Ever Hear of "when Grom attack"

We pick a good spot get all the top grom's, and in one day try to get the best photo's! -------It should be sick

All those kids rip. However, when kids start to drive they graduate from "Gromhood", period. Any grommie who is rolling in a Caddy Escalade is no longer a "Grommie"...LOL. I stick with my original list as they are all 14 and under, i.e. True Grommies

Thanks for the help.
My next move is to call surfline and all the magazines to see who wants to run my idea. I will keep you posted, but please keep the ideas flowing.

Southender thanks for refreshing my mind, Mike C. does rip and he has the best resume out of the pack.

Maso a true grom is 18 and under. 15-17 is the final stage's of gromhood

PJ apparently summers on Long Island and lives in North Jerz the rest of the time. He competes in the NY ESA.

No doubt Chris Kelly is one of, if not the best, amatuer in the State. He's a Sr. at OCHS. No doubt NJ has some of the greatest talent on the Right Coast, however the issue is "what is the age ualifier" for a Grommie. It should be limited to Menehune and Boys (or girls, as in the next Britt Hickey).

Ian is NOT a grom

Chris Kelly only gets good results when its an ESA related contest (can u say All Star team they make sure their guys do well) or you have South Jersey judges who are friends!

Tommy Inhken does even compete anymore or is he STILL making list by riding off his name from 5 years ago???

Mikey a definite! Humble too!

Sean Santiago, you are joking!!??

Pat good for his age! But he needs to learn the word "humble"

PJ surfs good, but he definitely needs to come down from his " I am the best attitude"!!! Can you say humble too???

Jordan B...when does he even compete anymore??

Connor Willem gotten much better but not up there yet!

Groms who surf good should let their surfing talk...not their mouths!

I don't think TJ retired from the ESA like you suggest ... I think he left , (like you did), because of the bullshit judging and the political crap ... however, he is the highest rated NJ surfer besides Rob Kelly on the ASP North America Pro Junior Tour, with NO crap ESA or NSSA judging ... check for yourself at the ASP North America website ... it's funny that most of the people are small minded and only think that the latest ESA or NNSA results as who is the best or most rad ... I alway's thought it was about the guy having the most fun!

If your looking for rating ... the ASP is the top of the ladder ... NOT the ESA or the NSSA

Chris Kelly might be too old too, not sure....TJ's name left off because once again its the "illiterate Jersey surfers" voting not on surfing ability but on popularity and in jersey you have to a braggart to get noticed or mentioned...noticed Mikey was almost passed over since he doesn't follow that "Jersey" behavior!

Whether we argree on the cut off age from the "grommies", one thing is for sure; Dirty Jerz has a tremendous group of young surfers to continue the legacy and tradition...
